Here we are again, blue sky, sun shining and it's almost a weekend. It doesn't get much better than this in Syracuse.
Well, the Trunk Show at East went well last weekend...lots of great people stopped by and had a super time taking advantage of the specials. If you missed the show, never fear, we will try to schedule some more special events in the near future. Be sure to also check our Facebook page for information on upcoming special happenings.
The stores are doing well and new items are coming in all the time. Marilyn does a super job to keep up to date on current fashions and style trends...as you know. She loves to hear your comments and suggestions on her selections for the stores.
As always, I hope some of you are reading this blog and if you are and if you have any comments for me, please drop me a line...I would love to hear from you.
Be well, do good work and keep in touch. John
Looks like no record this year but we may actually reach our snow average of 120 inches...even more if it keep this up. Hopefully we are done for the year...Yea Spring! Marilyn has rearranged Elsbeth Rose in Armory a bit. Moved some big things around, added and subtracted other things. It looks great...must stop in to see what's doing. As usual for this time of year, new items are arriving daily...much to the joy and consternation of the staff doing the unpacking. OK, it's not that bad but when new stuff does come in, admiring the great pieces does take time. See for your self...thank goodness I don't wear women's clothing...I think it's all beautiful. (Speaking like a true artist, that is).
By the way, don't miss the SU game...hopefully games...this weekend. The team is playing amazing well and we wish them all the luck in the world. Boo-Yea...Go Orange!!! That's all for today, more to come. Be well, do good work and keep in touch. J
Just some bits and pieces...
Comet 'PanSTARRS' has been and still will be visible in the Western sky shortly after sunset for a bit longer. You will most likely need a pair of binoculars, it is fainter than expected. That is, assuming the sky is clear in Syracuse.
With the snow all sorts of deer tracks are visible. Marilyn has tracks all over the front yard and I saw tracks in front of the gym on Bridge Street. As they are open 24/7 the folks inside said they see the deer quite often after dark. Please be careful driving...deer are sneaky and they like to jump in front of cars.
So drive fast like a comet or in a Comet (if you have an old one) ((I don't believe I just typed that...sheesh)) down to or out to one of the stores and get a viewing of the new, great Spring things.
Honest, I swear, the snow will go away and it will get warmer. Soon! Nature hasn't failed us yet.
Be well, do good work and keep in touch. J
Well, Spring lovers...looks like Mother Nature and Lake Ontario have gotten together to do it to us again. I know, or I believe, there are flowers and grass under all that snow just waiting to spring forth and show themselves. I hope!
A lot of new Spring fashions are currently showing themselves at both stores...if you haven't already, check the new photos posted at 'Clothing & Places'. They are fresh from Marilyn's camera to my computer and directly to the web page. I am still amazed at how easy it is now to set up and keep up a web page. Remember when "Web Design for Dummies" was the thing?
So be brave, bundle up and stay strong because warmer weather will be soon. No more heavy coats and boots...think lighter clothes, short sleeves, toes showing, sun screen. Stop in to see what's new AND Summery...and say 'Hi' to Marilyn and all the ladies who are just waiting to "Make your Day!".
Ciao for now... Be well, do good work and keep in touch. J PS. Drop us a like sometime and let us know how you are doing and how we are doing. Would love to hear from you. PPS. Don't forget us on FaceBook too.
Hi again, I'm back for just a few notes on the day and the World... in no particular order.
The Catholic Church has a new Pope. 'Nuff said, you can follow the goings on everywhere.
Today is 'Pi Day'... 3.14...get it?
Today is also Albert Einstein's Birthday...who knew (and on Pi Day too).
Announcement coming later today that they, the scientists at CERN, have actually located and identified the Higgs Boson (Which I thought was a strange name for a buffalo). Don't expect an explanation on the Higgs, it's way over my head.
Oh, yes...the Stores... Lots of Spring items coming in weekly and in some cases daily. If you are looking for new and exciting things or old favorites, stop in for a while. Marilyn is usually East all day on Thursdays and Downtown all day on Wednesdays...along with some other half days downtown.
2/16/13 Nonsense... Today it is sunny, it may snow tomorrow, it will snow sometime before June... remember, we are in Syracuse! But enjoy the day no matter what the weather.
Both stores are looking beautiful with lots and lots of new things arriving every day. Of course Sales are still in progress in both stores so choices abound. "Something old, something new, something borrowed"...no wait, that's for a wedding...sorry. But still, lots of wonderful items and more to come.
And now for something completely different... The asteroid missed us on Friday as we knew it would but Russia got slammed by a meteor...and on the same day...Coincidence? Actually, yes. Just one of those things that happens once in a while that make you wonder for a minute.
Say, if anyone reads this stuff, drop me a line. If no one reads this than never mind.
Be well, do good work and keep in touch. J
Yes...it's me again. In the middle of winter but the days are getting longer...Yea! What to do, what to do... Ice skating in Clinton Square, skiing down some mountain, sitting by the fire with someone nice...and a warm drink. Lots of things to do in Syracuse in the winter. Oh, yes...and the best thing of all, SHOPPING!...another Yea!!
We just got back from the Big Apple and the Accessories Show with lots of interesting things for both stores...but they won't be in for a while. What we do have is some amazing things which are in right now. Do stop in to see what's new and interesting. And don't forget our 40% Off Sale is still in progress.
And now for something completely different... An asteroid, approximately 150 feet in diameter, named '2012DA14' will pass within 17,200 miles of the Earth on February 15. This is well inside the 22,000 mile orbit of some our communications satellites. Not to worry however, it will safely miss us. Yet another Yea!!!
To all, Be well, do good work and keep in touch. J
Well we certainly have been remiss, busy is busy and we have been quite busy, what with the holidays, decorating and getting ready for special events. By the way it's me again, Marilyn is the one who is really busy... I just try to keep up the website and take care of the 'To Do' list in the stores. But as I said, the Holidays are upon us and there is lots of time for last minute shopping to be done. A couple of events this week going on at both stores and lots of new items arriving. Hope to see our many friends, both old and new, this time of year. What with the lights and the colors, the smells of the Season, all the food we manage to consume before the end of the year, our families and friends... we have much to be thankful for. We would like to wish you all Joyous Holidays and a Most Happy New Year!
Well, it's me again. Marilyn is busy working East today and since I'm adding pictures I may as well add to the blogosphere. We just got back from Paris, spent a damp week with very good friends seeing the sights, eating French food, drinking French wine, looking at French paintings... along with the Mona Lisa of course. Beautiful city. We don't realize how young a country we are until we saw it's the 850th anniversary of Notre Dame Cathedral. (Makes me feel young too). PS. Jet lag is a bear! Back home, things are going well at the stores, new items coming in weekly. If you haven't been in for a while, be sure to drop by and see for yourself. I don't have to say this but Marilyn's selections keep getting more beautiful and interesting every time I stop in the stores. Amazing coats... fantastic dresses... tops... skirts... blice (Sorry, I couldn't resist that one. If mice is the plural of mouse than blice must be the plural of blouse... again my apologies. PPS. Marilyn is going to kill me for that one. Ciao for now. J
Marilyn has been very, very busy of late so I will take it upon my self to do a bit of blogging. If anything seems untoward or obscure, please forgive me, I am the web designer, artist in residence and general, all around person who has a screw driver and hammer... (and I know how to use them!) But on to what little I do know. Last weekend was back to New York for a crash course in showroom visits. Thank goodness they were all within a three or four block area. Four show rooms in five hours... sheesh. Even I was tired and I was only along to carry things. Marilyn was thoroughly wiped out. But it's still fun and interesting... she got some great outfits and I get to chat with some very nice people. The stores are doing well, lots of very nice customers and lots and lots of great new things. Just got done taking some pictures and posting them in the web page... (I also have a camera). I am always amazed at the selections Marilyn makes to bring into the stores. There are so many great designers in so many showrooms I wouldn't know where to begin... my artist background would fail me completely but Marilyn always carefully picks, what seems to me to be the most perfect items. Got to go now, excuse me for rambling on so, hope you enjoy the Fall weather and the changing of the foliage. J.
